Georgia's only Palestinian American state legislator defends campus protesters

Top Democrats such as Vice President Kamala Harris may not be speaking out about the pro-Palestinian protests spreading across American college campuses. But Georgia’s state Rep. Ruwa Romman is.

The 30-year-old lawmaker is the first and only Palestinian American elected to the Georgia General Assembly and one of only a handful elected as lawmakers anywhere in the country. The Duluth Democrat still has family in the West Bank and is increasingly being looked to as a Democratic voice of her generation as the Israeli-Hamas war rages on.

During a lengthy interview Tuesday, Romman defended the actions of pro-Palestinian protesters at Emory University and elsewhere. She also detailed young voters’ frustrations with President Joe Biden and warned that without a significant change of course in the Middle East, her party will not only lose in 2024, but will damage the Democratic Party for a generation.

“A lot of people are dismissing these students as ignorant, like they don’t understand this is a complicated world issue. But I’m an elected official, and I frankly don’t see it as that complicated,” she said. “There are a group of innocent people (in Gaza) that are being targeted. And no matter what we have done, it hasn’t changed.”

1. I'm hoping this was written before the president spoke.

President Biden gave a beautiful and compassionate speech. He supports the rights to protest. But not destroying property, trespassing or other illegal laws.

a line has been crossed.

Does the representative ignore those who were targeted by Hamas on October 7, and opened the door to this disaster?

Hamas not only broke an existing ceasefire, deliberately attacked civilians, many who were sympathetic to the Palestinian plight, sexually mutilated, raped, and killed victims, have done no favors to the Palestinian cause.

A documentary about the rape and sexual crimes committed by Hamas terrorists on and after the October 7 massacre has been published online to watch for free.

The film, entitled Screams Before Silence and featuring eye-witness testimonies from survivors, accounts from first responders, and interrogation footage of members of Hamas, provides considerable evidence for a campaign of systematic rape by the terror group during its devastating assault on southern Israel six months ago.

The documentary is fronted by former Meta COO Sheryl Sandberg who in the film returns to kibbutzim that were targeted on October 7 with former residents to hear in heart-wrenching detail what happened to them that morning.

Sandberg also travels to the site of the Nova music festival massacre, which is now scattered with hundreds of newly planted trees, Israeli flags, and the pictures of all those murdered.

and the representative's view that the issue is "not that complicated", shows just how naive she is.

The representative is threatening that we will lose in 2024 an entire generation. No Representative Romman, it will be that generation that will lose if trump wins, because the country will lose its democracy.

The Time Magazine interview with trump says clearly what he will do if he wins to a second term.

That is why when AOC was asked about the Gaza situation and the upcoming election she responded that the most important issue affecting the country is the preservation of our democracy, and that means electing Joe Biden.

and it is a complete misrepresentation that the Biden administration isn't doing anything. There have been multiple attempts of the Biden administration to achieve a ceasefire, which Hamas has not agreed to. There is a current deal on the table where there is hope that something might get achieved this time.

When Bill Clinton left office he left a framework for a two-state solution, and continued negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians. Unfortunately, Bush won with the help many young people associated with Nader and the green party, who professed there was no difference between Democrats and republicans. Bush also won with the help of most Muslim Americans at the time. When the bush administration took over, the negotiations and progress made by the Clinton administration was ignored, the commission by Clinton on the threat of Al Queda through the Hart/Rudman report was thrown in the trash can. A few months later 9/11 occurred, and the Israeli/Palestinian issue was put on the back burner indefinitely.

If this entire "younger" generation decides not to vote or vote for a third party, and trump occupies the WH, along with his MAGA cult because of that, the outcome of the 2000 and 2016 will look minor compared to what will happen with another trump term. Read the 2525 project:

https://www.project2025.org/

The country will be over, and so will their future. That will be the reality, and they can ignore it at their own peril with the false claim that "there is no difference between both parties", but if that happens, they will find out just how wrong that is.
