In my experience (can't speak to other jurisdictions) the judge goes through a script before a defendant declares he will or will not testify. The script talks about the defendant's total authority about testifying. The lawyer can advise on the pros and cons of doing so, but has no legal authority to make the decision. If I was the judge I would allow such a colliloquy to be televised to make it clear that Trump is making the choice.

The people have the right to know about all of these cases, maybe except for top secret files. When they get to that trial, if they get to it, they can keep the cameras out. But most of this stuff doesn't need to be secret. It's simply criminal.

He wants to make rambling speeches with whatever word salad streams through his head. He won't "testify." He wants an EXCUSE for being too chickenshit to even try to testify in a normal way. He senses the moment is coming very soon, and he will not have even defended himself.

13. I Was Wondering How He Was Going To Get Out Of Testifying......

He's been saying all along that he intends to testify and we all knew that his lawyers would do everything they could to keep him away from testifying.

He can't admit that his lawyers would prevent him from testifying and he wants to maintain the narrative that he wants to and would be testifying.

So I was wondering what creative way was he going to invent to allow him to - in his mind - save face - for not testifying.

And guess what? He doesn't disappoint.

He's blaming it on the judge and the gag order that the judge won't allow him to testify. WOW!!!! Now that's creative!!!!
