I want to believe

I want to believe that Donald tRump von ShitzInPantz will be defeated in November in a historic lanslide of repudiation. I want to believe that he will be convicted in the hush-money trial, in the insurrection case, in the classified-documents case, and in the Georgia election-interference case. I want to believe that he will spend the rest of his ignominious life in one prison or another, and in the prison of his own demented mind, bankrupt and friendless, hated and demonized in history. I want to believe that America will not teeter on the precipice of fascism, and that the re-election of Joe Biden will send the party of fascism into a paroxysm of self-immolation, and usher in a new era of progressive reconstruction of the ideals of liberty, equality, and mutual respect in our communities.

I want to believe. But I can't.

That's my starting point. I would love to work on Biden's re-election campaign, but in this red state, there is no office. As soon as I get a few things off my plate, I hope to be working on a Senate campaign to oust one of our MAGAt US Senators, one of the most obnoxious in the country. We'll see what happens on that front.

There's always something to do.

People in deep red states can participate in national campaigns, mailing postcards, making calls. The DNC has training for the timid.

I'm in a deep red part of CA. A sure thing, yes, but there are many house seats that can be flipped, gaining a majority in the house if we snag some. I'll contribute.

I grew up in the 60's and unlike the pronouncements of certain "pundits", I am stronger in support of civil rights as I was then.

Go Get 'em!

6. I believe it's more likely than not Biden wins, but not so likely that the white-knuckle dread...

...of the wrong outcome is relieved.

Sort of like if you were going into surgery, and your odds of dying in surgery were "only" 10%. It would still be a damned scary situation. And I don't think Biden's odds are as high as 90% at this point either.

I'm very disappointed that the American public hasn't already so thoroughly rejected Trump as to make Trump's re-election a virtual impossibility. Trump is so obviously vile even bad polling should show Biden well ahead, and it shouldn't require the election to be closer for people have paid enough attention to know Biden is a far, far superior candidate.

just what freakin' planet in what universe almost half of the American people are living on. It makes no sense.

Some people say it's the economy; they blithely forget what the economy was like at the end of TSF's term, and how he mis-managed it through the pandemic to get it to that state. They forget what his two previous repug predecessors did to THEIR economies. They ignore the indisputable FACTS that Joe Biden has brought about a revival of our economy that is utterly unparalleled in our history.

I don't understand it.

...to know that the US economy has had the BEST recovery from COVID of any other major country in the world.

And fuck, even if we had worse inflation or were sinking into a deep recession, only an idiot would think Trump would or could make things better.

I believe this will be the most chaotic election ever & if he loses, which isn't a sure thing, he will sue & try to stall the inauguration in hopes of getting his pals on SCOTUS to install him.

Our advantage is that Biden's already in office. Our disadvantage is that our side didn't take the threat of Trump seriously enough.

We don't yet know the end of the story.

But I love your ending.
