We fear they will win. Yet, they don't fear us, the majority.
The wingnut factor of the Republican Party has been with us for centuries. From slavery, through the Civil War, to the Klan's dominance in the late 19th and early 20th Centuries, to the American Nazis who wanted us to side with Germany during WWII, to the McCarthy Congressional hearings of the 1950's, thru Jim Crow, thru Nixon's "Southern Strategy." thru Reagan's amiable bigoted ignorance, to the SCOTUS appointing George W. president in 2000, and now, through the Trump era of insanity.
They have always been a vocal minority, backed by the interests of some of the most malignant members of the ultra-wealthy and powerful.
Today, they are in a position where their goal is in reach. The destruction of democracy. Trump is so ignorant that he isn't even aware that they exist and that he is the fulcrum they've always wanted. Nonetheless, they are more than willing to use a clueless, ignorant buffoon to accomplish their ends.
And now, Trump, their unknowing puppet, has turned the entire Republican Party into a cult that dares not betray him in public. He has told us what he will be and do if/when he wins (steals) the presidency. And we are living in fear of that.
Why aren't they living in fear? Because we don't make threats? Because we don't openly carry arms? Because we don't adorn ourselves and our vehicles to proclaim our patriotism? IMO, they are greatly underestimating us. After the Japanese raid on Pearl Harbor, the Japanese admiral who planned and lead the deadly attack said:
"I believe all we have done is awaken a sleeping giant and filled him with a terrible resolve."
Is the fascist element of American society making this same deadly error?

I have previously posted the signs of this, which are similar in many ways to addiction and mob (as in The Mob) culture.
They work on weaknesses in our brains which make us susceptible to limbic persuasion which overrides the reasoning part of the brain and makes people choose things that are self-destructive in exchange for the "kick" and also the "legitimization" of such things as hate, violence, racism, antisemitism, theft and so on. ( because "everyone else does it)
And the key signs are denial and projection of their weaknesses and failures onto others. (so they can blame others for their failings and faults)
Cult zombie-ism is hard to break for even skilled therapists, and usually needs the subject to actually realize that there is a problem (that's not someone else's fault)
So, talk to people with a shred of rationality left, and speak to them of the real issues.
Choose a future.

Here is the future the GOP wants for you, and has sought for years to deliver.
You must choose wisely.
• Government dictates what you read, your religion and your private life. Government monitors and controls women.
• Americans pitted against each other along lines of race, color, religion, gender, sexuality, and income. Vilification of blacks, Jews, Muslims, lgbtq+ , homeless, and women of strength, with increasing violence, even murder against them.
• Gaza waterfront razed to make hotels. (per Jared Kushner)
• Devastating climate change.
• A deadly all-out war on the rights of women.
• More welfare for the rich.
• Private health care companies deny needed treatments to save money. (Death panels are here!)
• The wealthy pay even less in taxes.
• Every civil right is eroded by clown judges living in the 18th century rewriting the constitution.
• Worker's rights and benefits reduced in order to create greater profits for businesses.
• Safety nets removed, so that homeless, and jobless people are left to die on the streets.
• More, more, more of culture war.
• GUNS, everywhere, with no limitations or requirements. Kids get them freely.
• Minorities and women blamed for every imaginable blip.
• Support of authoritarian regimes across the globe, who eagerly imprison, "re-educate", murder and commit atrocities on others.
• Lies, hate speech and threats are welcomed on "social media" and given support by government officials.
• Medical care and prescription drug costs skyrocket. (and more ... )
This is not fear-mongering. It's reading from history and quoted statements.
"Staying at home" because Hillary Clinton wasn't "perfect" gave us a train wreck hate-mongering profiteer.
Learn from history.
We are now in a time when much of what's posted and published is generated by A.I. and bots.
Looters with computers know which ONE of your buttons to push that will get you to do their bidding.
It's like a date, people. No one is perfect, but the wrong choice will land you in the hospital or the bottom of a river.
