The closer one lives to Russia, the more you understand the importance of keeping them out.

Warning: Georgian Dream is using illegal gangs to target the youth on the streets of Tbilisi, reminiscent of the tactics used by the Yanukovych regime. Just an hour ago, peaceful protesters were assaulted by around 20 individuals who physically attacked the youth, resulting in injuries.

(24,847 posts)I don't see a Russian Army capable of enforcing it's will on Georgia. Hope they throw Russia out and all of their Georgian sycophants in jail.

(26,725 posts)I believe around 3.5 million, and the country is already partially occupied by russian military.
I also doubt they have much of a military themselves, especially being under a pro-russian government.
So I don't know what russia might be able to do there. I believe they also have riot police aligned with russia, similar to what Ukraine dealt with during the Maidan mass protests.
It's a very worrying situation.

(25,853 posts)The European Union, United Nations, and the United States have condemned legislation making its way through Georgias parliament on foreign agents, as thousands of protesters snarled traffic in the countrys capital Tbilisi on Thursday with a large new protest against the bill.
Protesters poured into Heroes Square, a key junction through which much of Tbilisis traffic passes between the citys neighbourhoods. Long queues of vehicles remained blocked.
We are all together to show the Kremlins puppets that we will not accept the government that goes against the Georgian peoples wishes, said protester Giorgi Loladze, 27, from Kutaisi, Georgias third-largest city.
Tens of thousands of protesters had shut down central Tbilisi a day earlier in the largest anti-government rally yet. Police fired tear gas and stun grenades to clear some of them.
The bill attacked by opponents as authoritarian and Kremlin-inspired has completed two of three readings in the parliament and the latest comments reflected alarm in both Washington and Brussels over the countrys future direction.
