Trump admits he told Secret Service to take him to Capitol on Jan 6 in rambling campaign rally

Source: UK Independent

Former president Donald Trump has now admitted to ordering Secret Service agents to drive him to the US Capitol on January 6 — but still relayed a very different version of events to the testimony given by his former aide.

Cassidy Hutchinson, a former aide to Trump administration chief of staff Mark Meadows, testified before Congress back in June 2022 that, when the mob of rioters stormed the building, Mr Trump insisted Secret Service agents take him to the Capitol.

When the agents refused, she said the then-president “lunged” to grab the steering wheel of the car.

On Wednesday, Mr Trump used a day off from his criminal trial in Manhattan to hold a rally in Wisconsin where he regaled his version of what happened that day, admitting that he did demand to be taken to the Capitol that day.

Those condemning the Secret Service for purported collaboration need to remember that they did prevent tRump from being in front of the crowd or behind it.

magas would say tRump is a peacemaker and would have calmed the crowd. Like the rally before hand? ( "You must fight ... " ).

Imagine tRump on the steps shouting to the crowd "Tell Mike Pence to do his job!"

Then he wouldn't have these "possibility of deniability". The reason we have trouble indicting him earlier is because he wasn't there on Jan 6. If he was leading in on that day, it would have been all over for him. The people around TFG back then saved him from himself time and time again.

Would they have fought to keep him out if he was leading the crowd?

8. A Secret Service agent told Cassidy Hutchinson what Chump did in the car

She wasn't in the car, but the SS agents witnessed it. The driver plus one or two other agents were in the car and apparently it was an upsetting event. The agents did the right thing by refusing to take Chump to the Capitol. After all it's their job to protect the President's life and safety, not to drive him wherever he wants to go.

I forget the name of the agent who told Cassidy after the incident, but it can be easily looked up. This agent should be questioned and I'm sure he would shed light on the event. Chump is a known liar and it should be easy to sort out what really happened that day.

That would make it impossible to lunge for the driver, correct? I want the truth, and I don't think we're there yet.

there are three cameras on, front, rear, and selfy.
Two of them record.
The Beast doesn't record American history on video?
Or does it.

Not that I've heard. If video ever existed of that scene in the car, Chump would have had it destroyed.

It's basically the word of the secret service vs. the word of Chump. Cassidy Hutchinson testified what the agent (maybe it was a staffer?) told her, right after it happened. The same person probably clammed up later on, but he was stunned by Chump's behavior.

Don't forget that these agents were personally chosen by Chump as his most trusted "body guards."
