The presence of his DNA doesn't even establish he was there. His DNA was there, but it might be present for a variety of reasons.

(contemplated, in this context means “huh, good idea…get on that tomorrow”)

where a bank robber “accidentally” cuts/injures himself during the robbery but actually drips some of his enemies (an ex lover maybe) blood on the floor just to frame them.

it could happen!
