Amnesty Int'l: Biden Must Halt Weapon Sales to Israel After U.S. Arms Used to Kill Civilians in Gaza

A new report from Amnesty International finds the sale of U.S.weapons to Israel for use in its indiscriminate assault in Gaza is in violation of U.S. and international law. We speak to Budour Hassan, a Palestinian writer and contributing researcher to the report, who says the U.S. is "complicit in the commission of war crimes" and must "halt all arms transfer to Israel as long as Israel continues to fail to comply with international humanitarian law and international human rights law." We also discuss Israel's detention of thousands of Palestinians without charge, the inadequacy of U.S. human rights investigations into the Israeli military, and Israel's threatened ground invasion of Rafah.

Just curious, has Democracy Now ever interviewed comments from opposing viewpoints? Is there an example? JohnSJ May 2 #1

As much criticism that is levied at the MSM, excluding fox, because they have an agenda like Democracy Now, the MSM does present conflicting viewpoints.

As to the OP, has Hamas abided by Amnesty International?

Amnesty International is very useful in bringing matters and events to worldwide attention. However, IMO, they lose credibility in making such demands

For arguments sake, let's say based upon careful and informed deliberation with experts and foreign governments, Biden halts the sale. Does Amnesty International get to claim credit, making it appear as though Biden caved? Ridiculous.

The more humanitarian organizations that issue clarion calls for action, the more pressure that's eventually put on the corporate media to actually cover reality instead of their own bottoms lines or just fade away to increasing numbers of uncompromised information sources.

That increased public pressure is the oxygen that allows political and policy reform to actually breathe and take form.

Personally I don't give a flying f&*%$! as to who gets credit for stopping the enabling of a genocide, just that it stops.

Having said that, I believe Netanyahu want's *rump back in power and will do anything he can to help bring this about.

In this sense the democracy crisis in Israel and the United States are intricately tied together.

You can't have freedom for just part of the people while materially supporting others being murdered.

Israel has offered this a month ago and Hamas said no. What’s Israel to do with a side that won’t work together? Israel has tried so hard to do right, but can’t with an unwilling group.

that he intends to invade Rafah regardless of whether a hostage deal is worked out.

So what would Hamas' motivation for working out a hostage release be if that deal just prolonged the attack for a limited period of time?
