Trump Cites Fox, Then Fox Cites Trump Citing Fox As Proof Of Innocence

During breaks with Donald Trump's criminal trial, the former President typically meets reporters off to the side to whine about how cold it is in the courtroom; then he reads snips of articles by people in his toxic right-wing media bubble. Monday was not a good day for Lumpy, so he read Fox News columns aloud as proof that he was innocent. Then, to prove that Trump is innocent, Fox News cited Trump reading Fox News columns. It's like they're a tag team. Has anyone ever seen Fox News and Trump in the same room simultaneously? They might be the same!

"You know, former President Trump stood in the hallway there saying that all of these legal experts keep saying there's no crime there," a Fox News pundit said. "And I've been going through all of the reports, all of the editorials, all of the left-leaning news sources. I can't find a legal analyst out there who's actually explaining how a crime was committed."

We try to extend ourselves to help others here at C&L. So, let's help them out. Trump was handed down a 34-count indictment charging him with falsifying business records over the hush money payment his now-former fixer, Michael Cohen, made to adult film actress Stormy Daniels in order to aid him in winning the 2016 Presidential election. Presidential interference is another word for that.

"This is four weeks you're keeping me away from the campaign," Trump said during a break, even though he's been golfing and Mar-a-Lagoing on many of the days that he's free.

Speaker Johnson to appear at courthouse amid Trump hush money trial

Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) will appear at the Manhattan courthouse Tuesday as former President Trump sits for another day of his hush money trial.

Johnson is the latest Republican lawmaker to visit the court amid Trump’s ongoing criminal trial, which has kept the former president largely off the campaign trail as he vies for another term in the White House. Rep. Cory Mills is also joining Trump at the courthouse on Tuesday, the Florida Republican told The Hill.

The Speaker’s trip to New York comes less than a week after the House overwhelmingly blocked an attempt by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) to oust him from office, an outcome that some have attributed, in part, to the former president’s backing of Johnson.

Trump voiced support for Johnson on a number of occasions amid the ouster threat — including during a joint appearance at Mar-a-Lago — and he posted on social media urging Republicans to vote to table Greene’s motion to vacate. That Truth Social post — which called Johnson a “good man who is trying very hard” — published minutes after the vote closed, however.

And there it is. The transaction.

Stormy Daniels Feared For Her Life At Trump Trial - Wore Bulletproof Vest

Stormy Daniels was so concerned bullets would rain down on her at the Trump trial last week that she wore a bulletproof vest to the NYC courthouse ... this according to her attorney.

Stormy's lawyer, Clark Brewster, sat down with CNN Monday night to discuss the testimony his porn star client gave from the witness stand at the Trump hush money trial in Manhattan. During the interview, Brewster revealed Stormy had "a lot of fear" about "the security coming into New York."

As a result, Clark claimed Stormy "wore a bulletproof vest every day" to the criminal courthouse in lower Manhattan. Clark said before Stormy even arrived in the Big Apple on Sunday "she cried herself to sleep and "was paralyzed with fear." He noted that she was not nervous about taking the stand and telling her story," but "what might some nut might do to her."

As you know, Stormy testified last Tuesday and Thursday about her alleged tryst with Trump, detailing their steamy 2006 romp in a hotel room for the jury. Trump has always maintained the sexual encounter never occurred.

Judging From Trump's Reaction, Michael Cohen's Testimony Is Crushing

Trump ended up quoting Sen. J.D. Vance about how his trial is a threat to democracy, “They view this as a scam. I think it’s a terrible thing that’s happening to democracy in this country. And uh we have a lot of them that want to come and say, just stay back and pass lots of laws to stop things like this. Uh JD Vance, what’s going on in that courtroom is a threat to democracy and we cannot have a country where we get to prosecute your political opponent instead of persuading voters.”

A man who tried to end democracy by stealing an election is claiming that democracy is in peril because he is being held accountable for alleged crimes. The ex-president went on and on reading quotes from stack of papers as if he was trying to convince himself that the American people are behind him.

Trump seems to know that he is not winning the trial. At some level, he also appears to understand that Michael Cohen’s testimony is very bad for him. Outside the courthouse, Trump was in panic mode, spending minutes throwing everything at the wall and hoping that something stuck.

Donald Trump knows that there is a sizable percentage of voters who say that they will not vote for him if the former president is convicted of a felony. Trump is trying to discredit the process in the hope of discrediting a conviction. Michael Cohen’s testimony was bad for Trump, but what even worse was the show was put on outside of the courtroom.

'Time for Donald to testify': Michael Cohen's ex-lawyer taunts Trump over hush money trial promise

Michael Cohen's former attorney Lanny Davis dared former President Donald Trump Monday night to make good on a pledge to testify in his historic criminal hush money trial.

"Michael Cohen did his time and they found that he was directed by Mr. Trump," Davis said while appearing on CNN. "So if Michael Cohen did the time for the crime, so should Mr. Trump."

That's when Davis called on Trump to face the truth-firing squad and testify in court. "I have an invitation for all of Mr. Trump's supporters tonight and to Mr. Trump respectfully — you said to your supporters, to the American people, that you would testify, not 'might' but 'would' testify.

"Now, Michael Cohen has been carpeted with the attacks at being a liar, when he was lying almost always for you. So now you're going to keep your word, Mr. Trump and testify. Stand up and tell the truth the way that Michael Cohen has and then we'll see what the jury decides."

Cohen Drops Bomb At Trial - Trump Didn't Care If Melania Left Him Because 'How Long Do You Think I'll Be On The Market?'

Former Trump attorney Michael Cohen dropped a bomb in court when he recounted former President Donald Trump’s reaction to the prospect of wife Melania Trump finding out about an alleged sexual encounter.

After a week that featured over six hours of testimony from Stormy Daniels in the hush money-election interference trial, Monday will see the all-important testimony of former Trump attorney/fixer Michael Cohen — who is the linchpin in the prosecution’s case that Trump’s alleged falsification of business records constitutes a felony plot to interfere in the presidential election.

Among the revelations Cohen made on the witness stand was a stunningly flippant reaction that Cohen says he got from Trump when he asked about how Mrs. Trump might take it if the story of Trump’s sexual encounter with Daniels came out. From The New York Times live updates:

Michael Cohen says that Trump explicitly told him they needed to do whatever they could to suppress Stormy Daniels’s story until at least after the election, because it wouldn’t matter at that point. Cohen also recalls asking Trump how Melania Trump might take everything that was happening. He describes Trump’s reply as follows: “He goes, ‘How long do you think I’ll be on the market for? Not long.’ He wasn’t thinking about Melania. This was all about the campaign.”

'Rather angry': Yelling Trump unloads after Michael Cohen testimony

Former President Donald Trump delivered one of his angriest post-trial day rants in Manhattan on Monday after his former attorney and fixer Michael Cohen — one of the most important witnesses for District Attorney Alvin Bragg — took the stand to testify about his own role in the alleged criminal scheme.

The former president has made several such speeches at the end of trial arguments, often followed immediately by crushing fact-checks that strip away his false claims — but on Monday he lost his cool more than usual. "The whole is laughing now at New York's weaponized legal system, watching this unfold," Trump thundered.

He went on to claim that the Federal Election Commission looked into the allegations and found, "There's absolutely no problem," with the payments. He then quoted a number of people sympathetic to his case, including right-leaning law professor Jonathan Turley and even Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC), whom Trump quoted as saying the "objective is to keep Trump off the campaign trail, that's all they're trying to do, keep him off the campaign trail."

Trump also went after Judge Juan Merchan, once again accusing him of a conflict of interest due to his daughter's political activity — a point of contention that has previously gotten him held in contempt of court, although this time he took care not to go after Merchan's daughter directly. As he spoke, his raised his voice until he was yelling at those gathered outside the courtroom. "A rather angry defendant," remarked CNN's Jake Tapper as Trump walked away.

It was Melania's idea to spin 'Access Hollywood' tape as 'locker room talk': Michael Cohen

Former Trump "fixer" Michael Cohen made a surprising claim on Monday during his testimony during former President Donald Trump's hush-money trial.

As reported by CNN's Kaitlan Collins, Cohen claimed that it was Melania Trump who came up with the idea to spin Trump's infamous "Access Hollywood" video -- in which he boasted about being able to grab women by their genitals without any repercussions -- as "locker room talk."

Cohen testified that the video in question, which released in the closing days of the 2016 presidential campaign, was what prompted him to come up with a scheme to make hush-money payments to adult film star Stormy Daniels to guarantee her silence about her past sexual encounter with Trump.

Cohen's testimony is the first time someone has claimed that Melania Trump helped her husband to spin his own boasts about being able to get away with sexually assaulting women. Melania has been notably absent from Trump's hush-money trial, as so far son Eric Trump has been the only member of Trump's family to appear at his side in court.

Trump prosecutors may bring 'new documentary evidence' never before seen: CNN's Gangel

CNN's Jamie Gangel said on Monday that prosecutors in former President Donald Trump's hush-money trial are bringing in fresh material to show jurors during Trump "fixer" Michael Cohen's testimony on Monday.

During a panel discussion on Cohen's upcoming testimony, Gangel spilled details about what she's heard about the prosecution's planned presentation on Monday. "So according to sources familiar, in addition to Michael Cohen's first-hand testimony, prosecutors may bring in new documentary evidence that we have never seen before," she said.

"We do not know what it is. We do not know if it is a game changer. But I'm told it's an example of the paper trail that goes beyond Michael Cohen's testimony."

Gangel also said she recently spoke to Cohen and reported that he was "anxious" and wants to get the trial over with. He also said that his tone during his testimony will be "remorseful" when it comes to his past actions to help the former president cover up a sexual encounter with an adult-film star ahead of the 2016 presidential election.

Trump branded 'moron' by Bruce Springsteen fans as he taunts star about crowd size at New Jersey rally

Bruce Springsteen fans have denounced Donald Trump as a “moron” after he claimed that his Jersey Shore rally garnered a larger crowd than the singer could pull. The 77-year-old former president arrived at his Wildwood, New Jersey rally on Saturday evening which was swamped with approximately 80,000 Maga supporters, according to his campaign officials.

Alongside a flurry of expletives and praising fictional flesh-eating serial killer Hannibal Lecter before pivoting to talk about illegal migration, Mr Trump also took a jibe at a New Jersey icon: Bruce Spingsteen. “I love these Saturday evenings. Is there anything better than a Trump rally? If some of these wackos came along, you know, these liberal singers, they’d actually vote for me,” he gloated to the crowd. “You know, like Bruce Springsteen. We have a much bigger crowd than Bruce Springsteen. Right?,” Mr Trump added.

The Trump campaign has previously been criticized for inflating crowd sizes, and Mr Spingsteen’s fans were quick to poke holes in the Republican’s latest figures. Between 30 August and 3 September last year, the rock singer and his E Street Band sold out three performances at the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford. Its seating capacity alone is 82,500 according to its website. “Trump really said his Wildwood rally had a bigger crowd than Bruce Springsteen… someone tell this moron that The Boss sold out MetLife for 3 nights at 82,500 a night,” one X, formerly Twitter, user said.

“If this was a real crowd of my fellow New Jerseyans, and not a bunch of brainwashed posers, there is no chance they would have allowed this Bruce [Springsteen] slander to stand,” another wrote. While Mr Springsteen, who is public in his support for president Joe Biden and called Mr Trump’s 2020 first term in the White House a “f****** nightmare”, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee said that the singer would “actually vote” for him if he attended the rally.
